It's a Pause, NOT an End!
It's a Pause, NOT an End!
The Meaning Behind the Symbol
The Punctuation Connection: In writing, an author uses a semicolon when they could have ended a sentence with a period, but chose to keep going.
Life as a Story: In the context of mental health, you are the author and your life is the sentence. The semicolon signifies choosing to push forward through struggles like depression, addiction, or suicidal thoughts.
Project Semicolon: The symbol was popularized in 2013 by Project Semicolon, a non-profit movement founded by Amy Bleuel to inspire hope and support for people facing mental health challenges.
If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. You can call or text 988 in the US and Canada to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
